Rainy Monday Photos at My Cottage

My front entrance this morning on a rainy Monday

Pink and proud. Still looking lovely in a soft rain. Notice clipped boxwood in background,

Riffled white hiding from the rain.

Ruffled white peony. I love this variety.

Petals are falling.

Red barn garage with loft, back entrance. Don't my clipped boxwood look nice? I am liking my wild field too. Serious grass cutting will be done the next nice day. xo

Life Cycle of a Maple Tree

I photographed this maple leaf yesterday between showers and there just happened to be a seedpod nearby. My upstairs balcony floor is absolutely covered with these little helicopters and I am surprised that I don't have a maple forest because of them. Today promises to be the first nice day in ages and I am thankful because I have to meet home inspectors at ten o'clock this morning for a pre-listing inspection. Wish me luck! Fingers crossed. See you later. xo

April Showers

April showers bring May flowers.
I woke up to a foggy morning after a rainy day yesterday. My phone says it will clear off later and there will be sunshine but more rain on Thursday. That's fine with me since I've always liked rainy days. See you later. xo

Too Much Leisure Time? Not good!

A page from The Cheerful Cherub by artist and author Rebecca McCann. These single panel newspaper comics appeared daily in the Chicago Evening Post 1914-1927. Each featured the title character, accompanied by his pet dog, speaking a short poem to offer wisdom and wit on many topics. This one is on Leisure.
I am happy to report that we finally have a rainy day. It is perfect for a Monday and it's the good kind of rain that will soak in rather than a gully washer that would just run off. Here's hoping you will get rain too if your area needs it as much as mine does. Have a great week. xo

Raindrops resting on a finely woven spiderweb.

Sorry. This image is not working.
Raindrops resting on a finely woven spiderweb on my boxwood this rainy Saturday. I can hardly believe my weather went from air conditioning yesterday to 66° this morning. It feels fabulous and we need the rain!

Happy Friday Says The Lamb

Isn't he adorable? I love the curly fleece and that happy face. It's raining quite hard here at my cottage but I don't care. It's very chilly too, brrrr. Anyway, Happy Friday. xo via

The Lamp in The Woods

I like this lamp reflection in the woods to add a bit of cheerful color on a gray rainy day here at my cottage.

Rain, As Promised

It started raining about 6:30 this morning and has already stopped. We need a lot more than that amount and I'm hoping it will start up again. Three hours of rain is just a drop in the bucket compared to what we really need. My phone shows more this afternoon, fingers crossed.

Rain is On the Way

Since I took this photo, the sky is completely overcast. The rain is supposed to start after midnight and continue most of the day tomorrow. We really need it as you can see from my straw colored grass.

Barn Before the Rain

We really need some black storm clouds around my cottage to water the grass. Tomorrow will be two weeks since I cut grass for the first time this year and it hasn't grown very much. Usually you can't keep up with it in the spring but we had a very dry April and May hasn't been much better. We've had a spritz or two but we need several days of soaking rain. The temps we are having this week are 20° hotter than normal to boot. Webster doesn't like hot weather one bit. Tabitha loves it and I am holding up okay. Off to an office meeting this morning. See you later. via

Rain, Rain, and More Rain

I keep looking out the window fully expecting my back yard to look like the two photos above. This day has been awful starting out with black ice, then rising temps and pouring rain. My gutters are flowing freely and the house is nice and warm so I don't really mind. I had real estate appointments that were rescheduled, thankfully. There has been almost no traffic on my street so most people didn't bother to go out. The first time I did, I lost my footing and down I went but I'm fine. Webster was slipping and sliding too and Tabitha was not amused. What an terrible day! Tomorrow is supposed to be fine. I'm sure the areas around The Great Swamp are under water.

Good Advice.

Fall Rainy Day

I find this so restful to look at before bedtime. No, it's not raining here yet but will be by the weekend. I get my best work done on rainy days so I'm looking forward to being forced to stay inside and buckle down. See you in the morning. via
